Your testnet dashboard shows a seven-figure wallet count. Mainnet goes live, the announcement thread gets its likes, and the block explorer barely moves. Some of those wallets were never people. The rest had no reason to come back.
Adding channels and a bigger airdrop is the standard fix. That is a shopping list, not a user acquisition strategy. A chain has no app store install to buy and no card on file to bill, so the playbook borrowed from mobile apps fails at its first step.
This Surgence Labs guide covers a four-phase model for Web3 user acquisition, the public numbers from the Incentiv campaign where we ran it, and the one metric that shows whether testnet users reached mainnet.
Count the wrong users, and every later number is wrong too. Reward budgets get sized against sybil accounts, which one operator runs in bulk to collect rewards, and your Web3 go-to-market strategy inherits the error.
